The Visual Chronicles of the Mahaica Wetlands and Mangroves

The “Visual Chronicles of the Mahaica Wetlands and Mangroves” project is a unique initiative celebrating the vibrant culture and rich biodiversity of the Mahaica Watershed.

Featuring compelling narratives and stunning visuals captured by talented Guyanese photographers, the project aims to raise awareness and foster a collective commitment to preserving the Mahaica wetland and mangrove ecosystems.

This project produced beautiful products that align perfectly with the EMC Foundation’s mission to promote environmental education and awareness in Guyana. By highlighting the beauty and significance of the Mahaica Wetlands and Mangroves, the project seeks to engage the public and encourage environmental stewardship.

A collection of high-quality aerial and ground-based photographs and videos showcase the cultural and natural features of the Mahaica wetlands and mangroves, capturing the essence of this unique ecosystem for a broader audience. The print publications “Hidden Gems of Mahaica” and “Visual Chronicles of the Mahaica Wetlands and Mangroves” offer detailed insights into the region’s culture and biodiversity, blending stories with photography for an engaging and enlightening experience.

Implemented by the EMC Foundation with support from the Blue Social Challenge Fund Pilot, part of the UK’s Sustainable Blue Economy Programme, the Visual Chronicles Project is a crucial component of the Foundation’s sustained efforts to manage and protect the Mahaica Watershed.
